When learning a new language it is essential to start reading as soon as possible.
This builds your vocabulary with new words and phrases.
It is difficult to read anything if you do not have any words memorized.
A new word will get washed out of the memory as soon as you finish reading if no links have been established between the word and the context it was used in.

It is extremely hard to understand and retain a new word without knowing in what context it was used.
It is more productive and practical to learn a new word when you can see it used in different sentences and situations.
